Companion to the Snopes Media Kit

The value behind
every placement.

Snopes partnership pricing is transparent by design and tied to a single variable — audience size. One simple rate per edition that scales with the Snopes Debunker subscriber list. No slot upcharges, no surprise fees, no opaque CPM packaging. Our engagement metrics — 54.35% open rate, 17.34% click-to-open rate, 0.03% unsubscribe rate — sit firmly in the premium-news tier, but our rate sits below the knowledge tier. This brief shows why that arbitrage exists, and how to use it.

§ 01The Card

Subscriber Tier Per Send
800K – 899K subscribers Current — Snopes Debunker stands at 800,000 as of July 30, 2026 $8,000
900K – 999K subscribers Reachable inside a 12-month term at the current pace $9,000
1.0M – 1.09M subscribers The million mark. Sign at today’s tier and you never pay this rate $10,000
1.1M+ subscribers +$1,000 per additional 100,000 subscribers, continuing without a ceiling — locked at signing $11,000+
Owner Reviewed · 2026

The list crossed two tiers in three months — $5,000 in May 2026, $6,000 in June, $7,000 today. Because your rate locks at signing, every tier the list crosses during your term is upside you already paid for: the same spend against a larger audience, at a falling effective CPM.

Every sponsorship includes: up to 500,000 bonus Snopes.com impressions per send · month-to-month basis, 30-day exit notice · sponsor-provided creative + 80–120 word copy + single CTA · per-send performance reporting · owner-led editorial review. Custom inventory available on request.

§ 02Industry Context

Newsletter sponsorships command a $10–$30+ CPM for healthy lists, with premium publishers charging above that range based on audience quality and brand alignment (paved.com, 2024). Snopes' $7,000 per send to 772K subscribers is a $9.07 effective CPM — below the industry baseline floor — paired with engagement that sits in the premium-news tier.

§ 04Questions Partners Ask Us

How should we compare your rate to other newsletters we sponsor?
Compare on cost-per-engaged-reader, not raw CPM. Our $7,000 per send to a 772K-subscriber list is a $9.07 effective CPM — below paved.com's $10–$30 industry baseline range for healthy newsletters. But our engagement sits at 54.35% open, 17.34% click-to-open, 0.03% unsubscribe — 1.28× the cross-industry average open rate (GetResponse, 4.4B emails) and 2.3× the media/publishing category average (Campaign Monitor, 100B emails). Below-market CPM × above-market engagement is the arbitrage you're buying.
What does $7,000 actually deliver in practice?
One send reaches 800,000 subscribers, yields ~420K opens at our 54% open rate, and drives ~73K click-throughs at our 17% click-to-open rate — before accounting for the brand-halo value of appearing inside a Snopes editorial environment, plus up to 500K bonus Snopes.com impressions served to your post-click traffic.
How does the rate scale as the list grows?
Cleanly — $1,000 step per 100,000 additional subscribers above the 600K threshold. 600K → $6,000. 700K → $7,000. And so on. Your rate locks at signing. A multi-month commit holds the tier you signed at for the full term, even as the list crosses into higher tiers — so every subscriber added during your term genuinely reduces your effective CPM rather than being priced back to you.
What's included in every sponsorship?
Top-of-newsletter or mid-newsletter placement, sponsor-provided creative + 80–120 word copy + single CTA, up to 500,000 bonus Snopes.com impressions per send (served only to readers who clicked from your placement), per-send performance reporting (opens, clicks, conversions where trackable), and personal pre-send approval by Chris Richmond, Snopes Owner & CEO. Editorial independence is preserved by contract — your sponsorship cannot influence Snopes' fact-checking authority, and Snopes' fact-checking authority cannot be sold.

§ 05Ways to Structure a Partnership

Entry paths

  • Single send$8,000 at the current tier. Good for testing fit before commit.
  • Monthly sponsorship$8,000 per send recurring (1 to 2 sends per calendar month). 1440 signed the first locked recurring partnership in April 2026, at the $5,000 tier current on that date.
  • Custom inventory — dedicated sends, branded editorial, multi-month bundles. Priced on request.

Commitment paths

  • Month-to-month → locks the current subscriber-tier rate for the calendar month.
  • Multi-month commit → locks the rate against future tier increases. Subscribers added during your term reduce your effective CPM.
  • 30-day exit → either party may exit with 30 days' written notice. No long lock-ins. The 1440 agreement uses this structure.

In closing — every number on this card is backed by a metric you can verify and a clause you can read.
